When I was a child, I used to love Sunday mornings when my Dad (who seldom cooked) would fry up some French toast for fun. When I grew up, I learnt to use Gardenia Raisin Bread instead, giving it a more "sophisticated" (or so I thought) taste of sweet and savoury. This elegant recipe, comes from the good chefs at Picotin.
Ingredients – serves 4
3 eggs, beaten
1/4 cup milk
1/2 to 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
8-10 slices Gardenia bread
1. In a large bowl, mix beaten eggs with the milk and cinnamon.
2. Dip a slice of bread into mixture then place on a heated griddle that's been well coated with butter.
3. Cook for 1-2 minutes on each side on medium / medium-high heat until golden bread.
4. Serve with honey or jam.
