Jelly - Fish!
Dsc01521

Our own aquarium jelly with underwater sea animals!
This term all the children in visual arts were learning about creatures under the sea so we decided that it would be fun for the children to make a jelly aquarium with gummy jelly-fish! 100% edible and very yummy (not too much sugar) thanks to a recipe inspired by Bob Blumer's Surreal Gourmet.

Aunty Judy conducted this lesson and it was loads of fun! A true underwater experience for all sea explorers!

1 packet of gelatine
a mixture of animal gummies
250ml water
275g caster sugar

1. Boil water, take it off the heat when it boils and dissolve gelatine powder into the mixture by stirring till the crystals disappear.

2. Add blue colouring as desired. Pour into small cups till half full.

3. Refrigerate for 15mins

4. Add animals into the jelly. making sure they look like they're standing

5. Pour more jelly into the cup till it is full

6. Refrigerate for 20mins then eat your sea creatures with a spoon!

Happy fishing!
