Parents Support Group - cookout on 8 August, 12-2pm
2

We have decided to start a parent support group at LAA to encourage parents to come together and form a community where we can share creative activities and look out for each other.

This has always been part of the heart and soul of LAA where we depend strongly on the support of our different community partners - artists, corporate supporters, volunteers, schools - to create our programmes and reach out to more beneficiaries who could benefit from the programmes at the LAA.

Our first session will be on 8 Aug, 12-2pm at LAA. We hope to gather a founding group of about 6-8 parents to discuss the activities that this parent support group (PSG) should undertake and how LAA might start to build a stronger relationship with the parents who have entrusted their children to us.

Do come and join us for this fun-filled casual cookout session! It will be a fun get-to-know-you session that will end with a short informal discussion on the Parent Support Group and what activities we will undertake together. :)

The following are a list of possible ideas for this group:

1. Blogger/Editor - write heartwarming articles for our bi-monthly magazine that goes out to parents, non-profit organisations and students! Keep everyone up to date on all our students' achievements at The Little Arts Academy!

2. Storytellers - share your child's favourite stories with us at our monthly storytelling sessions. Dramatise the story, create crafts that tie in with the story, the stage is yours!

3. Mama/Papa Chef - Share a family recipe with us at our once a month parent-cookout sessions. Exchange tips on how to get children to eat their greens, eat healthy, finish their food, put together a meal in 5mins...you name it...we've heard of it. Draw on the wisdom of other parents and learn new family recipes in the process!

4. Parent Support Group - encourage other parents who feel lost or need help. Be a listening ear and lend some advice to others who need help in managing their families. Open them up to the experience of the arts in fun and simple ways.

5. Fundraising activities - come up with crazy fundraising ideas for The Little Arts Academy. Send your proposals to the contacts below

For Students who would like to volunteer:

1. Facilitator - be a big sister or big brother to our children. Help them learn and keep up with the rest of the class, and pick-up an art form in the process. Volunteers must commit for a minimum of 5 sessions (once a week for 5 weeks).

Time/Days:
Saturdays 10am - 2pm OR 2pm - 6pm
Wednesdays 3-5pm
Thursdays 9.30am - 11.30am

2. Camp Meister - Think up creative activities for our students during the school holidays! Share your love of the arts with our children and create a truly special holiday for all our young talents. Send your proposals to the email address below.

3. Fun-raiser! - Propose a fundraising activity for BT BAF (The Business Times Budding Artists Fund) or The Little Arts Academy. We love watching you share the love of what you do through performances, fashion shows, concerts, you propose it and we'll consider it!

For volunteers, please tell us more about your interests and how you would like to help out at The Little Arts Academy. Send your emails to adelina_ong@toph.com.sg

We look forward to hearing from you!

:)
